For three days in September, a derelict industrial building in South-East Portland was transformed into a hub of technology, art, and culture for the XOXO Festival. Glowbox created multiple large scale projected installations which integrated with the festival, both in concept and aesthetic to provide a generative, reactive back drop for the event spaces.
The projected imagery incorporated fragmented layers of color through which other content was refracted, as if viewing the work through a broken window.
Multiple pieces of dynamic projected content were created, ranging from generative motion graphics to glitched visualization build from live twitter data.
In addition to the dynamic installations, the rendering system was also used to generate looping interstitial content for the primary conference screen, as well as unique title sequences for each session for publication online.
Rather than rendering a single background clip and switching out the titles, each bumper video is generated procedurally and is completely unique.
